Fabrics And Materials
Notre âme utilizes the most sustainable raw materials to create our modern line of clothing. We work with a conscious approach to fashion and living where human values are at the core of our design process and very much reflected in the choice of our raw materials. We work mostly with surplus fabrics helps in eliminating any fresh manufacturing of these materials. This in turn reduce any pressure on natural resources, thereby enabling lower carbon emissions in our complete supply chain.
The second level of resource planning is a result of upcycling these fabrics using various indigenous crafts like hand embroideries, applique work, tie-dye, patch work and various bead works. This also helps in employment generation in remote communities. Small batch local manufacturing with zero waste approach enables us to use all the remnants of cutting into a new pattern or a beautiful addon. Most of our fabrics are natural fiber based including cottons, linens, jute, viscose, tencel, modal. We upcycle the synthetic fabrics to create various patterns with respect to our design philosophy..
-
Cottons
The natural fiber obtained from cotton bulbs, carded and combed to make fine yarn. Highly breathable and absorbent, light to medium weights are perfect for summers. Bio-degradable and becomes more environmentally efficient when upcycled. Fabric types include, voile, cambric, poplin, oxford, satin, twill, denim, canvas etc.
-
Linen
Linen is characterized by its natural slub effect. Obtained from stem of flax plant, highly breathable and absorbent. Bio-degradable and can be woven with khadi. Light to medium weights are perfect for summers. Crushes adds to its beauty. Comes in colors and natural tones.
-
Silk
The natural filament yarn with lustre, obtained from cocoons. Depending on the extraction process and regions, silk can be fine and coarse. Breathable and absorbent fiber. Bio-degradable and environment friendly, can be upcyled.
-
Viscose
Plant based man-made fiber. Synthesized in factories, highly absorbent and breathable like cotton but with lustre. Recyclable, can be repurposed, bio-degradable. Commonly known as rayon, a summer friendly fabric. Fabric types include georgette, chiffon, rayon etc.
-
Modal
Plant based cellulosic fiber, obtained similar to viscose. Stronger and finer than viscose. Have more rich handfeel and drape. Highly breathable and absorbent. Bio-degradable due its plant based origin.
-
Tencel/Lyocell/Eco Vero
Plant based man made fibers. Similar to viscose but more environment friendly due to the process involved in its manufacturing and its sourcing from more responsibly grown forests. Stronger and rich in handfeel with silky drape. Highly absorbent and breathable and bio-degradable. Fabric types include, plain, twill, satin, denim etc.
-
Jute
Jute is a long, shiny bast fiber obtained from stem. Also known as golden fiber for its natural gold shine. Highly flexible and breathable. Bio-degradable and recyclable. Mostly used in ropes and packaging. Innovated soft jute combined with cotton is used to make clothes.
-
Polyester
Synthetic fiber obtained from petroleum products. Breathability depends on weave or knitting pattern. Hydrophobic and hence doesn't retain water, dries quickly. Less drapery and more lustrous. Non-degradable but recyclable. Comes in various fabric types, plain, satin, twill, chiffon, georgette, knits etc.
-
Polyamide
Commonly known as Nylon, a thermoplastic synthetic fiber obtained from petroleum products. High strength and flexibility. Hydrophobic and hence doesn't retain water, dries quickly. non-degradable but recyclable and can be regenerated. Mostly used in mesh and swim fabrics.
-
Spandex/Elastane
Pair text with an image to focus on your chosen product, collection, or blog pA synthetic fiber made form petroleum products. Highly stretchable with a high recover rate. Mostly used in combination with other natural or synthetic fibers to make stretchable fabrics. Non-degradable but recyclable.ost. Add details on availability, style, or even provide a review.
